Long-time Fields Corner business Valente Insurance won first place in the local Deck the Windows Holidays on Main Street storefront decorations competition. Now their festive holiday window display featuring a variety of decorations with Boston sports teams as a theme, as well as a peace-loving jovial Santa, is vying for top honors city-wide. Valente Insurance has done business in Fields Corner since 1989 and is also a green business – this year they moved their offices to 1497 Dorchester Avenue, a new storefront in the recently renovated Emerald Isle Building next to the Blarney Stone restaurant.
In close competition was second place finisher Fields Corner Branch Library at 1520 Dorchester Avenue with a book-reading snowman and a “tree” of books in their snowy window. Honorable mentions go to Century 21 Cahill Associates at 1544 Dorchester Avenue, Rosa’s Liquors at 1568 Dorchester Avenue, and Structure Beauty Salon at 1461 Dorchester Aveune.
As a first place winner Valente Insurance now represents Fields Corner in the annual city-wide competition with 19 other first place winners from other Boston Main Streets. Voting online at this link starts Thursday December 11 at 3 PM and continues 24 hours a day until Wednesday December 17 at 3 PM. Mayor Walsh will honor the Deck the Windows Grand Prize Winner with a celebration at their place of business. For more information email Rosanne at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 617.474.1432.
